The Program

The Teaching Residents at Teachers College (TR@TC) program is a 14-month graduate-level program that enables TC students to apprentice with experienced teachers in high-needs classrooms in New York City schools for one year  while earning a master's degree. Secondary level certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Intellectual Disabilities/ Autism and Teaching Students with Disabilities (name change pending) are offered through this program. Accepted applicants are offered a substantial scholarship to TC, a $22,500 stipend and health insurance. After completing the program and attaining certification, students will be required to teach for at least three more years in a high-need urban school.
