This site documents a one-day experiment with light bulbs, batteries, and wires carried out by a small group in Paula Rogovin’s first grade class in 2005-2006. The experiment grew out of an earlier discussion in which students wondered how car lights could get electricity. In that discussion, some students had seen batteries in flashlights and radios and speculated that a battery might be used in a car as well. The students then carried out the experiment to see how a battery could provide power. The experiment was a part of a longer investigation of vehicles and transportation. (read full overview)
