I want to become a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist
It's relatively straight-forward to become an RDN at Teachers College:
- Begin by completing the master’s degree prerequisite courses.
- Apply for admission to one of our master’s degrees.
- Successfully complete the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) courses by completing one of our master’s degrees while concurrently completing three courses at Lehman College.
- Work with Teachers College faculty to obtain the necessary documentation needed to apply to the Dietetic Internship Program.
- Apply to and complete the Dietetic Internship Program (DI) at Teachers College.
- Pass the Dietetic Registration Exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Effective January 1, 2024, CDR will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become an RDN. For more information about this requirement visit CDR's website: https://www.cdrnet.org/graduatedegree.
You can complete the whole process (excluding completion of the master’s prerequisite courses) in roughly three years of full-time study. However, we also welcome part-time students into our program.
