Teachers College, Columbia University welcomes the 52nd Annual Meetings of the Comparative and International Education Society. The CIES was founded in 1956 to foster cross-cultural understanding, scholarship, academic achievement, and societal development through the international study of educational ideas, systems, and practices. The Society's members include more than 1,800 academics, practitioners, and students from around the world. This year's conference will be devoted to 'Gaining Educational Equity Around the World'. Please join us from March 17-21, 2008 in New York City, the 'Big Apple,' for productive and engaging meetings of the CIES. This site will be regularly updated. Check back frequently for information and updates regarding the conference program, accommodations, and more. Your comments and questions are welcome via email at cies2008@tc.edu. Presenters are asked to note the following:

  • The CIES 2008 Program Committee cannot respond to changes regarding the date and time of scheduled sessions, but it reserves the right to make such modifications should they become necessary.
  • Requests to have misspelled names and titles changed can be made until February 15, 2008 by writing cies2008@tc.edu.
  • If you must withdraw your proposed presentation, please contact us as soon as possible. Regrets, including your name and the title of your presentation, should be emailed to cies2008@tc.edu.
  • The first presenter listed for each paper must be a CIES member. Membership information is available at: http://www.cies.us/membership.htm
  • All presenters must also be registered for the conference. To register, please go to http://www.tc.edu/its/cies/registration.htm. On-line registration closes March 9th. On-site registration will be available in the Everett Lounge Conference Headquarters on the First Floor of Zankel Building.
  • All presentations rooms are equipped with an LCD projector and computer that has MS Windows and runs Powerpoint 2003.
