The Department of Arts & Humanities welcomes you to Teachers College, Columbia University. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the Department and our vast array of academic

Our Department, which encompasses 10 academic programs, is dedicated to the study of a variety of academic and professional disciplines in an educational context. The Department's mission is two-fold: To promote proficiency in specific fields; and to explore the purposes, practices and processes of education both within-and across-disciplines. Individual fields of study include: philosophy, history, culture, religion, social studies, language studies as well as linguistics and the arts.
The Department is also home to several exciting institutes and academic research centers. We invite you to explore what these institutes have to offer, both in the arenas of service and scholarship.
