Professor Liu received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and Communication from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the New York University Stern School of Business. He is currently an Adjunct Full Professor in the Social-Organizational Psychology program at Teachers College. He also teaches Organizational Behavior, and Project Management at New York University, where he received the University's Teaching Excellence Award.
Outside of Columbia, Professor Liu has over 20 years of experience in management consulting and finance. He is currently a Partner at Mercer, the world's largest human resources consulting firm. He has advised senior executives in solving critical human capital issues such as managing large-scale strategic change, optimizing organizational talent and transforming HR into a more effective and strategic function. He has led multiple teams within Fortune 500 companies deliver solutions that accelerate change adoption and enable the workforce to achieve its business benefits and strategy. Prior to joining Mercer, he was a Director within PricewaterhouseCoopers’ People and Organization Advisory practice.
He holds professional certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB).
He is passionate about education and has founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational center that provides free math tutoring to students in Harlem and the Bronx, and serves as a volunteer consultant for non-profit clients through the University of Pennsylvania Pro-bono Alumni Consulting (PennPAC) organization.
