In a recent story from U.S. News and World Report, Jeffrey Henig — TC Professor of Political Science and Education— discusses the mounting role of education policy in the 2020 presidential race among challengers seeking the Democratic seat.

“The fact that the teachers strikes were as well received as they were has reminded candidates that historically public education is a deeply popular institution in the U.S.," said Henig. "Even when voters and public surveys have been critical of the nation's education system, they've always given high marks to their own public schools.”
