Hi everyone! My name is Isabelle Fisher (or Izzy for short) and I am currently in my second year, studying towards my Masters of Education degree in School Psychology. Originally from New City, NY, I graduated from the University of Delaware with a major in Psychology and minors in Family Services and Leadership. In undergrad, I was a Resident Assistant for three years as well as a Research Assistant in the Peer Relations Lab. I chose TC for a few reasons. The location of TC is awesome! Located in Morningside Heights, there are so many places to explore (Riverside Park, Central Park, the Upper West Side)! I also chose TC because of my specific program. I am on the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst track, which has already given me countless hands-on experiences that I don't think I would have found in other programs. When I’m not studying, I enjoy reading, watching sports games (Go Rangers!), and spending time with friends and family! I hope to see you at TC in the near future, and if you see me around campus, stop and say hi!
Hello! My name is Briana Freso. I am a first-year student here at TC, and I am from Queens, New York. I attended Temple University for my undergraduate study and I am currently in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program. I decided to become a speech-language pathologist because I love working with children and I wanted to choose a field that would allow me to interact with them in in a unique way. I am part of the Black Student Network here on campus and hope to join more organizations throughout my time here. I am currently working to create my own line of organic hair and skin products. I chose TC because I wanted to be back home in New York, and what better place to be than the prestigious graduate school of Teachers College, Columbia University! I knew that I would be building my career here in New York, so I wanted to get the chance to build that foundation during my time in graduate school. I truly enjoy the level of support that I have within and throughout my program from professors, clinic supervisors, and my fellow future clinicians. I know that my time here at TC will be life-changing, and will afford me a multitude of opportunities.
Hey y’all! My name is Lissy Hodge, and I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Math Education with an Elementary specialization. I am originally from Kansas City, and graduated in 2016 from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a double major in Elementary Education and Math and a minor in Dance. I worked in the Admission Office at Wheaton all four years, starting as a tour guide and eventually becoming an office intern. I am very excited to be back in the Admission world working in the TC Admission Office! After I graduated from Wheaton in 2016, I spent all of 2017 living in rural Malaysia teaching English to high schoolers. I decided while I was abroad that graduate school was going to be the next step before becoming a fourth or fifth grade math teacher in my own classroom. When I visited TC, I was immediately drawn in by the welcoming staff, professors, students, and opportunities for research, collaboration, and study. I knew that TC was the perfect place for me, and boy has it lived up to all of my expectations! Not to mention, NYC is such a fun place to explore! I look forward to meeting you on campus soon!
Hello everyone! My name is Jasmine Hooper and I am a second-year MA student in the Psychology in Education program at TC! A Baltimore native, I graduated from Spelman College with a BA in Psychology and enjoyed spending a summer abroad studying in Ankara, Turkey. At Spelman, I worked in the Office of Admission as a tour guide and as a resource for prospective students navigating the application process, and I’m thrilled to be able to continue that work in my role as an Ambassador in TC Admissions! I’ve had the pleasure of serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer on a team that worked to implement programs geared towards family enhancement, and I currently act as a Research Assistant at Montefiore Hospital where I am similarly dedicated to helping underserved populations. I was led to TC due to my strong passion for social justice oriented work and am thrilled to be in a community of inspiring individuals who share these values. When I’m not in class, you can find me in a studio pursuing another passion of mine: singing! I look forward to connecting with many of you!
Hi there! My name is Erin Kelly and I am a second-year student pursuing a MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders with Dual Certification! I’m originally from Media, PA, and I went to the University of Delaware (Blue Hens forever!) where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science with a concentration in Speech-Language Pathology and minors in Spanish and Disabilities Studies. Deciding where to attend graduate school is always a nerve-wracking process, but I, without a doubt, made the right choice with TC because I absolutely love the program and all of the people in it! The CSD program provides a strong foundation to become a well-rounded clinician through lectures and ample hands-on opportunities with extremely qualified and successful faculty members. What really won me over, though, was how much every person I came into contact with, whether student or staff, raved about life at TC. Having experienced TC myself now, I can attest that they were not exaggerating!
Hi, readers! Before arriving to Teachers College, I graduated from Washington College in 2017 with a major in English and minor in Secondary Education. Since 2012, I have interned and taught in special education, elementary, middle, and high school environments. Specifically, I have an extensive background in teaching theater, which I've done for many summers. I taught sophomore English at The Gunston School in Maryland for a year, became TEFL certified, and then decided to make the move to NYC to pursue a master's program in English Education! As a Student Ambassador of Teachers College, I enjoy meeting new people and being surrounded by like-minded individuals. My interests in education include differentiation for all learners and sparking student interest in plays and Shakespeare. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy exploring cool food spots, biking, and browsing at bookstores around the city!
Hey everybody! My name is Bobby and I am a second-year MA student in the Higher & Post-Secondary Education Program. I am from Chicago, Illinois. I majored in Political Science in undergrad and graduated in 2016. I was involved on campus; I was an RA, I was in student government, I was an office assistant, and I played club water polo. I even studied abroad in Cuba (which was really cool). My college experience was so meaningful that I ended up wanting to have a career in higher education. After graduating, I worked for a year in government affairs before deciding to pursue a master’s at TC. Fun facts: My favorite musical is CHICAGO, I was once chased by a shark in Florida (true story), and I have performed stand-up comedy before.
