7th Annual Graduate School Recruitment Event

March 7th, 2009

Dear Prospective Graduate Student:

The Coalition of Latino/a Scholars hosts an annual workshop on the admissions process to graduate school. We would like to extend you an invitation to EnVISION Yourself. As part of a larger institutional initiative designed to attract more students of color, this initiative was developed to introduce our programs of study at Teachers College to Hispanic Serving Institutions. While Latino/a student representation, in general, lags nationally in higher education, representation in graduate programs is even lower. Community and Diversity at Teachers College is the responsibility of the entire TC Community, individually as well as collectively. We believe strongly in maintaining a diverse community of scholars, and we have developed this initiative addressing issues that impact Latino/a student representation in graduate education. As the largest and most comprehensive graduate and professional school for education in the country, Teachers College celebrates a history of commitment to research on urban education, preparation of educational leaders, and development of public policy surrounding educational reform and practice.

We hope you join us this year!

Thank you,
Coalition of Latino/a Scholars,
the Office of Admissions,
and the Office of the President of Diversity and Community
