Ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Welcome
The Office of Campus Safety and Security (TC Security) is responsible for the security and fire safety at Teachers College. Additionally, TC Security also manages the Teachers College Identification Card program.
Whenever a police, fire or medical emergency occurs on campus, notify the Office of Campus Safety and Security (TC Security). Our Department is staffed twenty-four hours a day by security officers who are certified by the State of New York and who work closely with other neighborhood security departments and enforcement agencies.
The jurisdiction for our Department includes all property owned or leased by Teachers College. The desk at Whittier Hall serves as the central point of contact and coordination point for the department. All emergency calls are routed through the Whittier Hall Control Information Center security desk ( CIC ) by calling the emergency line extension 3333. The campus employs many state-of-the-art security features including digital CCTV, and card readers. The Office of Safety and Security maintains a close working relationship with the 26th precinct, Columbia University Security and Barnard Security.
In an effort to provide timely notice to the TC community, and in the event a serious incident occurs which may pose a threat to students or employees, Teachers College security posts Crime Alerts in prominent locations on campus and on the Office of Campus Safety and Security Web Site.
