A terrestrial ecologist by training, Brendan Mackey is a professor of environmental science at The Australian National University. He is interested in the relations between humans and 'nature alive', particularly with respect to environment, ethics, law and policy. Brendan has been involved in the Earth Charter initiative for over a decade, and is currently working with the World Conservation Union (IUCN) on developing a code of ethics for the conservation of biodiversity. Brendan is currently on sabbatical in New York at the Center for Humans & Nature.
