Master of Arts - Administration Studies
The Program for the Master of Arts degree preparing for the Nurse Executive Role -- Administration Studies, particularly nurse management in professional organizational environments, emphasizes study in inquiry processes and the synthesis of nursing and management theories as well as the development of nursing as a profession.
Master of Arts - Professorial Studies
The Program for the Master of Arts degree preparing for Professorial Studies emphasizes the development of teaching and learning skills for applications in classroom and clinical education settings, building on the advanced study of nursing education and practice. The program includes content in evaluation procedures and basic curriculum design.
Doctor of Education
The Doctor of Education program requires a minimum of 90 points beyond the Baccalaureate degree. Of these 90 points, a maximum of half (45 points) may be taken elsewhere in an approved graduate program and transferred into Teachers College. Transfer credits will be evaluated and approved in keeping with current Teachers College policy. Their usability or applicability to the student's Program Plan will be determined by an assigned Faculty Advisor. Programs may exceed 90 points to provide a suitable basis for the dissertation and program requirements.
The three programs are offered in Cohort Formats. Classes are held every Friday during regular semesters; four semesters of classes for both Master of Arts Programs and for the Doctor of Education Program, six semesters of classes plus certification and satisfactory completion of the dissertation. These formats are designed to help learners launch their next career phases without compromising current employment commitments. Most students work fulltime during their course of study.
For nurses who demand the most from their abilities, there is no better investment than education - at any time in life. The Cohort formats are designed to make educational journeys focused and smooth, while attending to the needs of employed professionals.
