This clip was shown to a group of doctoral students at Teachers College, Columbia University. After watching the clip, the students participated in a discussion lead using a modified version on the Collaborative Assessement Conference. The following questions were asked of the group and their responses were recorded: What do you notice? What questions do you have? What research do you think the researchers were working on?

For each question, we had different expectations which we shared with the group.

 

What do you notice?

We asked the students to respond using factual information they noticed, not making any judgemental comments.

 

What questions do you have?

We asked the students they had after watching the clip. We recorded the questions without providing answers.

 

What research do you think the researchers were working on?

We asked the students to speculate about the focus of the researchers' work.
