Growing the Curriculum from Conversations...After serveral conversations with students, in which comments such as, "That's so unfair, my Mom's not going to get to go to work." or "Yeah, they're raising the fairs to like five dollars," were made, we decided to find out some more information about the fare hikes. As with many challenges, the idea emerged from questions and conversations with students. I don't believe we explored this issue to the depth that we might have if I were to teach it as a truly interdisciplinary unit, nor did we explore this as an issue of social justice in as much depth as I believe we might have.
