Muslims in New York City

Now in its second three-year phase, the Muslims in New York City Project continues its original research agenda and endeavors to expand in new directions. Plans are underway to initiate a new round of survey research to examine attitudes towards assimilation, civic and political engagement and the "Americanization" of Islam. The project will also sponsor a series of seminars and workshops on contemporary topics in the study of Islam and the Muslim communities in the United States. And in the spirit of interdisciplinary research, the project will also support and integrate the research of faculty from other Columbia schools and departments.
