Housing Recommendation
Because we will be meeting during the Spring Break at Teachers College, we will have access to all of its facilities.  However, the week of March 17 is a challenging one for obtaining hotel space because it is the Easter Week, a period of peak  tourism in New York. If you have relatives, friends, or professional links in New York City, we recommend to see if you can gain accommodations with them.  If you will stay in a hotel, we recommend that you make your arrangements soon. Please note that this information will be constantly updated as we secure more hotel room blocks and post other alternatives. We recommend that you check websites such as Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia or Hotels.com for possible deals and flight/hotel packages.  For commuting purposes and when inquiring with hotels, note that Teachers College is located on West 120th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues in the neighborhood of Morningside Heights on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, just south of Harlem.  It is conveniently accessible by the No. 1 subway train which stops at West 116th Street and Broadway at the gates of Columbia University.

Persons who plan to remain in New York City for both the CIES 2008 Conference and the American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2008 Conference (scheduled for Monday, March 24 - Friday, March 28, 2008) may wish to consider a short-term apartment rental.
