Education

classroomAt the ICCCR, we continue to develop and provide state-of-the-art instruction, training, and professional development for students, teachers, administrators, practitioners, parents and others. This includes exploring new content and pedagogical approaches for training and instruction in conflict resolution including distance learning technologies. We continue to generate additional opportunities for our external educational work with schools, non-profits and communities nationally and internationally. As an interdisciplinary center, ICCCR partners with corresponding programs through the Columbia University Conflict Resolution Network (CU-CRN) as well as with institutions outside the university. The ICCCR has relationships with a variety of domestic and international organizations that allow for students to gain practical experience. We create a bridge between the academic community and experienced practitioners as we support and promote a reflective scholar-practitioner model.

We partner with individuals, groups, organizations, and communities to learn to resolve conflicts constructively so they may develop just and peaceful relationships. We work with sensitivity to cultural differences and emphasize the links between theory, research, and practice.
