Welcome to CPET!!

Since 2002, the Center for the Professional Education of Teachers (CPET) at Teachers College has partnered with more than 350 schools, supported over 3,000 educators and ignited the learning of more than 15,000 young people.

The Center for the Professional Education of Teachers (CPET) is a professional education collective home to three literacy initiatives: Student Press Initiative (SPI) -- a project-based program that supports effective literacy education through classroom publication to inspire student writing; the Secondary Literacy Initiative (SLI) -- a teacher-tailored professional education program that thoughtfully leverages state and federal mandates toward instructional leadership and whole school reform; and Studies in Educational Innovation (SEI) -- a research-driven think tank offering turnkey assessments that measure 21st century literacy capacities, global research and benchmarking.

CPET is committed to creating sustainable school partnerships that promote global capacities in teacher education, equity in student learning and models for whole school reform. Uniting theory and practice, CPET is committed to making excellent education accessible to all.
