General Information

Classrooms

Hands-on computer classrooms:  Academic Computing Services maintains 3 hands-on computer classrooms with an instructor demonstration machine and workstations for students:

Media classrooms:  20 rooms have media consoles with either computer and video (VHS and DVD) projection or both, while many other classrooms just have VHS and DVD carts.

Classrooms without built-in fixtures:  Every college classroom has an active data jack for Internet access. Media Services loans carts with computers and projectors through arrangments for a particular class. Additionally, Academic Computing Services loans laptops for wireless use in classrooms.  To borrow laptops, please see Stacy Thomas in 234 Horace Mann.

Reserving a Classroom: ALL CLASSROOMS (including computer classrooms) are reserved by contacting Room Assignments at 212-678-3707 or roomassignments@tc.columbia.edu

Laptops

Personal laptops can be brought in and connected for wireless Internet connectivity in all academic buildings on campus (this includes the Student Lounge, the Library, and all classrooms). These computers should be registered with CIS before attempting to connect.
