TWO TOP RANKED SCHOOLS AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY JOIN FORCES to offer a Coaching Certification Program and Center for Coaching Excellence. This collaboration is a natural extension of a long and productive relationship between Columbia's Executive Education Division, Columbia Business School and The Center for Educational Outreach and Innovation, Teachers College.
Program Structure
This Certification Program is designed for those interested in developing the competencies needed to deliver coaching services in organizations, where the focus is on building high-performance cultures that leverage human talent and generate results. Recognizing the learning needs are different for external coaches and those coaches working inside of organizations, a choice of customized programs for internal and external coaches is offered.
The certification program requires the completion of two 5-Day intensives:
A choice of either the External Coach Intensive (ECI), which focuses on the unique demands of external coaches, or the Internal Coach Intensive (ICI) for those working inside of organizations.
Upon completion of the ECI or the ICI, participants receive a Certificate of Completion and can apply for the Coaching Certification Program, which requires completion of the Practicum and the ACI.
There is a required Practicum, which delivers field experience in applying coaching practices and tools, and provides structured online peer coaching labs, work with a mentor coach, and individual coaching experience.
The Advanced Coach Intensive (ACI), which explores coaching strategies and tactics for building leadership capabilities while enhancing organizational performance.

Earn a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia Business School Executive Education. Columbia Coaching Certification Program participants are encouraged to combine their coaching certification with one of the Columbia Business School Executive Education's core programs, resulting in the additional Certificate in Business Excellence, which grants Columbia Business School Alumni status.
Participants earn the Certificate in Business Excellence by attending a total of 18 days of learning within a four year period. Any program, including the Columbia Coaching Certification Program, from our program portfolio can be applied towards the completion of the Certificate in Business Excellence. Each of the Coach Intensives count as 5 days of learning toward the Certificate. Therefore, in addition to earning the Coaching Certification, completing the Columbia Coaching Certification Program would also count as 10 days toward the Certificate in Business Excellence. Which programs you choose to attend is completely up to you. You can design your curriculum to best meet your needs.
