The Center for Opportunities and Outcomes for People with Disabilities at Teachers College, Columbia University and the Developmental Neuropsychiatry Program for Autism and Related Disorders at the Columbia University Medical Center present a two-day conference at Teachers College, Columbia University that brings together an interdisciplinary panel of experts including educators, psychologists, pediatricians, child psychiatrists, pediatric neurologists to encourage collaborative consideration of strategies for addressing the challenges facing persons with autism and their families.
The first day will focus on approaches to understanding and addressing the educationally relevant characteristics of autism. The second day will focus on the genetics of autism, approaches to the pediatric office screening and evaluation for autism, and psychopharmacological issues in treatment.
This Conference is designed to foster dialogue between diverse disciplines and promote the development of integrated models for tailoring educational, psychological and medical interventions to better serve children with autism and related disorders and their families.
