To contribute an article...

If you would like to make a contribution to the Encyclopedia of Peace Education in the form of a short scholarly article, kindly review the guidelines below prior to submission.  The Encyclopedia is an online, open-access resource intended to trace scholarly developments in the field.

While the format for encyclopedia submissions varies, most follow the same basic outline: a definition, explanation, development and details, and some examples, followed by a comprehensive list of references. The aim of the encyclopedia entries is to give readers access to the international literature and research on each topic. Articles should be between 1,500 and 2,000 words, written in English, and formatted in APA style.  Contributions are subject to review and, as part of a living, growing body of peace education literature, may be periodically updated and/or edited with your permission.

The Encyclopedia of Peace Education
Guidelines for Authors

  • Articles should be approximately 1500-2000 words (eight double-spaced pages) in length and as interdisciplinary as possible, with explanations provided for any specialized terminology. Submissions will be reviewed in September of each year.  Review and posting of submissions may take up to 6-9 months.
  • Contributors should aim their writing at an educated and open-minded reader: an advanced university student, a journalist researching a story, or an education professional who is not a specialist in peace education but wishes to immerse himself or herself in the field for the first time.
  • Please follow the formatting and style recommendations of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 5th edition.
  • Entries should follow a standard pyramid structure, usually consisting of a definition, explanation, development and details, some examples, and a list of references.
  • At the end of each submission, after the references, authors are invited to submit a list of up to ten further readings on their topic.
  • Once articles are submitted, they will be pre-reviewed by the editor and any revisions will be requested. The final submission from the author must be reviewed and accepted by the editor and copy edited before publication.
  • The copyright for each entry will be retained by the Encyclopedia of Peace Education.
  • Contributions should be sent to Monisha Bajaj at bajaj@tc.edu
