Mission / History
The Center for Educational and Psychological Services (the CEPS)
is an integral part of the teaching and training programs in Clinical,
Counseling, and School Psychology, Learning Disability and Reading.
The CEPS offers psychological and educational services to individuals,
couples, and families residing in the New York City area. The emphasis
is on respecting and working with clients within the framework of
religious and cultural values and non-religious orientations. There
is an overall commitment to maintain a liaison with community agencies
such as schools, hospitals, and mental health clinics.
The Center began work in 1983, when the former Psychological Consultation
Center, Reading Center, and Neuropsychoeducational Center were combined.
Its primary purpose is to provide a diverse training arena for the
graduate students who are enrolled in the various areas of psychology
and other special related fields for which services are offered.
The Center continues more than a half-century tradition of excellence
in training and psychological services for the community-at-large
at our convenient Teachers College location.
