Fieldwork Requirements

Fieldwork Requirements

 

Initial Certificate

Initial certificate students must complete a 50-hour field experience prior to enrolling in either of the two student teaching experiences (C&T 4123 and ITSF 4720) required.  Students who are teaching could do most of the required fieldwork at their place of work.  These 50 hours will be integrated with the following coursework.

 

ITSF 4021

10 hours

ITSF 4028

15 hours

ITSF 4075

10 hours

ITSF 4121

10 hours for those not taking 4133 & 4134

ITSF 4133

5-10 hours

ITSF 4134

5-10 hours

 

You are responsible for getting your logs signed by a teacher or supervisor in your school, as well as the instructor of your course of study.  Logs must be filed in the Office of the Program in Bilingual/Bicultural Education each semester.

 

 

Middle Childhood Extension
Students pursuing middle childhood extension certification must have completed and logged a total of 50 hours of fieldwork in grades 7 and 8 throughout the course of their academic stay with us.  Please note: These fieldwork hours are beyond the 50 hours completed for the bilingual extension certification.  Please remember that you must also complete a course in Middle Childhood Education.
