Alumnae
Several Teachers College alumnae have made significant contributions
to the Peace Education Center's work and continue to help develop the field
of peace education.
Q’Jette
Whitworth. Q’Jette Whitworth recently completed an M.A. at Teachers College in International
Educational Development with a concentration in Peace Education. Her current
research focuses on how peace education pedagogy is and can be implemented
in the current standards based public education system. Her other research
interests include women’s and children’s issues in India. Q’Jette’s
educational philosophy is rooted in Freirian practice. She has always sought
to learn from and communicate with others. Henna art, puppetry, Middle Eastern
dance, languages, and conversations about social issues with every person willing
to talk with her are just a glimpse of her various hobbies.
Tiffany
Hunter. Tiffany Hunter is completing her M.A. at Teachers
College in International Educational Development with
a Peace Education concentration. In the past Tiffany has used peace education
pedagogy while teaching elementary school in southern California. She has
also been involved in humanitarian and development work in Central and South
America. Her current research interests include human rights education in
post-colonized societies and child development and socialization. On a lighter
note, Tiffany loves dogs, pizza, painting, and indie rock music. Some of
those together but certainly not all of them at once!
Emma
Groetzinger. Emma is completing her MA in Peace Education and
International Education Development at Teachers College, Columbia University
in New York City. She has worked running youth leadership development, service
learning and cross cultural communication programs in New Hampshire and the
Caribbean, and as well as with education development organization, Educa in
