The 31st InSEA WORLD CONGRESS 2002 in New York to Be Held as Planned

What happened on Tuesday September 11, 2001 was an incredible, horrendous and unimaginable tragedy whose dimensions cannot be gauged or absorbed. Over this past week the world has seen horrific images of death and destruction and has also heard stories of America's resolve, the heroism of firefighters, policemen, and medical personnel, and the altruism of tens of thousands of people. We have all lived through an experience that cannot be allowed to happen again. Art educators have a critical role to play.

Amongst the buildings destroyed in the Twin Towers complex was our Congress venue: The Marriott Downtown Hotel at the World Trade Center.

We are hurt and saddened, and yet enormously grateful for the many e-mails and faxes we received from InSEA members in this country and from the World over expressing sadness and concern. Time and again these messages carried the sentiment that if there was any time when the world needs to come together to celebrate the necessity for Art Education, then this is that time.

So on Friday September 14th the Congress Committee met and resolved that we will find an alternative Congress venue and that THE 31st InSEA WORLD CONGRESS 2002 will be held as planned, from 19th - 24th of August, 2002.

PLEASE WATCH OUR WEBSITE: www.tc.edu/insea for updated information about the new Congress venue and continue to hold us in your best thoughts.
